When I do feature films, I usually have a very strong sense of what I want to do. I have topics and subjects, so I go for it. I even know technically what I want to. But in the case of documentary, the story comes to me.

It’s hard to really articulate what the parameters are that make one song parody-able and another song not, but if I can come up with a good enough idea for it, I go for it, and if not, then I have to move on.

It always sounds so cheesy when I say it, but whatever it is you want to do, just go for it. I don’t care what it is: find a reputable school, or if you need to go to college or get the right training, just go do it and take little steps.

The thing that ‘Annie‘ means to me is that it is good to always be strong, and if you have a goal, go for it, and if there is something in your way, just go around and find your path again, and go for your goal.

I love that when you take that PG-13 off the table and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do,’ everything becomes fair game, and you really go for it.

Luck is something you find, or you go for it.

It was a lot of fun being a child actress. It suited me. I don’t think it suits everybody, but I was in it because I had a passion, not because my parents wanted me to make money. If other kids want to do it, and they really like acting, go for it.

Jeans of any sort should not be worn in nice restaurants. They pollute the landscape. They should also not be worn in the workplace if no other workers wear them. However, if your office is casual, go for it.

My equality rants have been out there so much that people must be getting sick of it, and frankly, so am I, but if a writer wants to do another story about it, then go for it, because the cause is a good one.

I’ve always known what I’ve wanted, but I used to be shy about expressing that in regards to my career. So I’ve become a lioness. If something’s happening that I don’t necessarily feel comfortable about, I will speak my mind. Or if I want to do something, I go for it.
