When I was a kid growing up, I lived in a little rural village called Woolton Hill, and the nearest town was Newbury. No bands played anywhere near us, so as much as I wanted to be on the grid and in the loop, I never was.
I applaud anything that can take a kid away from a PlayStation or a Gameboy. That is a miracle in itself.
When I was a kid, everybody that played golf was an old man. Until Tiger showed up, they weren’t in very good shape.
We would not have rock and roll without Chuck Berry, and when I first heard Chuck Berry, I fell in love with that music, and when I saw him, I changed my whole career trajectory that I was on as a kid.

A lot of kid characters you see on TV are sassy, and snarky, and think they’re just the coolest kids in the world, and are mean spirited.
I was a very focused kid. I always had this crazy lifestyle… billions of jobs, two hours of gymnastics every day, handball, anything with a ball, really. I must have had ADHD or something. I was very energetic, and very small. I didn’t start growing until the last year of high school.
Joshua Kirk, the YouTube kid with the glasses who looks directly into the camera – I really love his album reviews. He’s been doing it for years.

So a lot of me is still a little kid, and I think that kind of helps alter my sense of reality – it makes me able to just become Belle every single night.

I was a musical theatre kid, which meant you could always find me singing or dancing in the halls with at least four other people.
Josie Loren
From the time I was 9 years old, I loved magic. I was an only child, and I think that had a big impact on me. I always had grown-up friends even though I was a little kid. I would take the train from Lido Beach into Manhattan, and I’d hang out in magic shops.
When I was a kid, I thought my dad was a little bit harsh with me at times. Sometimes I needed an arm around me instead of my dad telling me what I did wrong, but it obviously worked.
I was always very active as a kid. I would climb on roofs and jump off using my parents’ bed sheet, hoping it would open like a parachute. I was always getting hurt, breaking a leg, you know, bruising, cracking my head open.
Cathy Rigby
As with real families, my fictional family on ‘Life Goes On‘ had its ups and downs, and as part of the fictional downers, the actors were often called to cry on cue. This absolutely terrified me, because I was a pretty happy kid who didn’t have much to cry about.
I was a very serious child who never got to enjoy life to the fullest like a normal, healthy kid.

School was a big source of anxiety for me. I hated school. I have social anxiety, and it developed when I was a kid. I had trouble going to birthday parties. It was always there. I begged my mom to let me be home-schooled at one point for a semester because I was so miserable at school.
Any kid who has two parents who are interested in him and has a houseful of books isn’t poor.
Sam Levenson
When you’re around kids you can be a little kid yourself and pretend that life is magic and you don’t have to be one of those sweaty people going to work every day.
I was a naughty kid. Teachers did not like me much.
I felt the Lord at a young age. And it was one of those things where that seed was planted, you know, when I was a kid.
I come from a family of storytellers. Growing up, my father would make up these stories about how he and my mother met and fell in love, and my mother would tell me these elaborately visual stories of growing up as a kid in New York, and I was always so enrapt.
Every parent wants to do what’s best for their child. Whatever I can afford, I’m going to get my kid the best education I can get.

I was just that kid in the family that you put on the table and watch it dance around, and you’re like, ‘Oh, look at that hyper kid!’
Rosa Salazar
In grade school, I was a complete geek. You know, there’s always the kid who’s too short, the one who wears glasses, the kid who’s not athletic. Well, I was all three.
‘Choli Ke Peeche’ and ‘Ek Doh Teen’ were my favourite numbers as a kid. I was a huge fan of Madhuri Dixit and would spend hours looking into the mirror and aping her expressions, believing that the mirror was the camera!

Look, everything that you experience as a kid is the foundation of how you are today. I was brought up in a working class family in Leeds and when it comes to money both my parents worked hard and instilled the same attitude into me.
I cooked a little bit in my first movie; I did a movie called ‘Made.’ For the little kid in the movie, I do a scene where I’m preparing a pasta puttanesca. I always loved watching that scene.
Sometimes you think about the job that we, as actors, do. I take it very seriously, and I care very much about it, but I’m paid to make believe. When you’re a kid, you go to your friend’s house, and it’s, ‘Let’s pretend we’re both cowboys!’ Without belittling it, that’s basically what I do – I tell stories.
My dad was a longshoreman in the Port of Miami. Tough job. I worked down there in the summer once. One day. Never again. My dad was a no-nonsense guy. As a kid, I hated his rules, but as a man, I understand what he was teaching. He taught me you have to work hard for everything you get.
Nick Ferguson
I played pretend games as a kid, army, whatever, but I never wanted to be an actor.
There’s only three movies I’ve been involved with in my whole life that I really care about. ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ was one, and ‘Princess Bride‘ was the second, and ‘Hearts in Atlantis’ is the third.

I’m still a kid inside, and adventure is adventure wherever you find it.
Jim Dale
If you take your kid in for the sniffles, you pay $20, but the full cost is $200. And so we need to get back to the price system where you see the full cost of health care, and then people will make smarter decisions. That will reduce health care costs, and it’s a huge part of our economy.
I was ‘gay-bashed’ when I was in school even though, you know, I’m not… I’m a straight guy that just happens to be what I do. So, it’s easily relatable to me. It was awful. It’s a hard time in a kid’s life.
Grant Gustin
I’m seeing the world partially through the eyes of a kid. Not all the time. There’s no black and white to it. But sometimes I’m seeing it like I’m 4.
American Society for Psychical Research Journals were all around the house when I was a kid.
I had to go to a mirror and look at it. I couldn’t picture myself in my own head. I had no image beyond a stick figure. I wasn’t a mean person as a kid, or dumb, and something has to be said to justify excluding you.
I’ve been compared to Drake before and Kid Cudi.
He was so confident. But underneath that, behind the scenes, I knew Michael Jordan was a country kid from North Carolina, and it was that simple to him. He was a young man, at heart, who wanted to be one of the guys who loved to play and was willing to do whatever was necessary.
Never in a million years did I think some kid from Amsterdam would be in a position not only would he be in the Money in the Bank and a fan favorite, but be informed and led by people like Paul Heyman.
Most children – I know I did when I was a kid – fantasize another set of parents. Or fantasize no parents. They don’t tell their real parents about that – you don’t want to tell Mom and Dad. Kids lead a very private life. And I was a typical child, I think. I was a liar.
I am very, very clear on how difficult it is for a young kid out there to go into the arts without taking a lot of heat from his peers.
When I was a kid, I couldn’t see life outside ramen noodles and Kool-Aid.
A lot of players will tell you, ‘When I was a kid, I watched Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, LeBron, Magic, and I wanted to be just like them.’ For me, it wasn’t like that at all.
It’s something you dream about as a kid. Like when you play all those NCAA video games as a kid and you create your own player and win the Heisman with a bunch of crazy numbers. It’s the biggest, most prestigious award in college football, so it’d definitely be a dream come true.
Johnny Manziel
I’ve always been a stubborn kid.
I started acting as an amateur when I was a kid, but I wanted to become a diplomat. It was self-centered and weird, but I had this idea of going out in the world and solving conflicts and making the world a better place. But I kept on acting, and eventually, I just dropped out of school and continued acting.
Self-discovery is so important in identity processing: who you hang out with, what clothes you wear, what shows you see. As a kid, I found out about things through friends. I would go to hardcore shows with 50 people.

My advice is this. For Christ’s sake, don’t write a book that is suitable for a kid of 12 years old, because the kids who read who are 12 years old are reading books for adults. I read all of the James Bond books when I was about 11, which was approximately the right time to read James Bond books.
As a kid, I was just led out in the morning to go spend my day with my friends and just run in the woods. And I’d only come home to eat or when I was thirsty.
If I had the opportunity, I will ask every Nigerian kid to start his career in Germany. The structure they have in the Bundesliga is far from what is obtainable in other leagues.

I have the best memories as a kid eating ice cream. It was a family tradition that I had with my father. It was nice.
