At the heart of ‘The Famished Road’ is a philosophical conundrum – for me, an essential one: what is reality? Everybody’s reality is subjective; it’s conditioned by upbringing, ideas, temperament, religion, what’s happened to you.
Of course everybody’s thinking evolves over time.
I think everybody has their own way of looking at their lives as some kind of pilgrimage. Some people will see their role as a pilgrim in terms of setting up a fine family, or establishing a business inheritance. Everyone’s got their own definition. Mine, I suppose, is to know myself.

With fame, you can’t trust everybody. You can’t depend on them being there for you as a person. They will only be there because of what you’ve got you as a person. They will only be there because of what you’ve got and what you can bring to their life. It’s not a relationship-it’s a leech.
I think it’s important for girls to be confident. Believe in yourself and… everybody’s hot.
Everybody has a purpose.
My mother was a big influence; she was exceedingly chic, completely dressed in a completely different manner than I did. I was a child of the Depression, so she taught me all about accessories, and I always tell everybody she worships at the altar of the accessory.
The more one pleases everybody, the less one pleases profoundly.
Everybody aspires to an affordable home, a secure job, better living standards, reliable healthcare and a decent pension. My generation took those things for granted, and so should future generations.

I separated from the Southern Baptists when they adopted the discriminatory attitude towards women, because I believe what Paul taught in Galatians that there is no distinction in God’s eyes between men and women, slaves and masters, Jews and non-Jews – everybody is created equally in the eyes of God.

I don’t understand labels. I don’t need anybody to tell me I’m Latina or black or anything else. I’ve played characters that were written for Caucasian females, I just want to be given the same consideration as everybody else, and so far that has been happening.
Everybody likes a roller coaster ride.
Everybody needs somebody.
It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody.
Don’t ever know who you may meet, or just because a person may not be dressed up all fancy, don’t mean they’re not an important person. You just don’t ever know who you’re gonna meet in life. So that’s why I look at everybody as equal. Can’t just judge. I treat everybody with respect. Every man.
Nobody has wrestled everybody in the business like I have, especially not Bret Hart.

I respect myself and insist upon it from everybody. And because I do it, I then respect everybody, too.
I would like to be called an inspiration to people, not a role model – because I make mistakes like everybody else. When I’m offstage, I’m just like everybody else.
Everybody should be able to enjoy their life, because you only live once. So I just want to get it all out there and be the best role model that I can be, if people want to put me in that kind of predicament. I mean, I didn’t ask to be a role model, because I’m not perfect.

Everybody has their own story – it’s who you are. If I wasn’t five-foot, I wouldn’t be who I am!
Courage doesn’t come by doing what everybody else says. Courage does by what you know is right.
Success is different for everyone; everybody defines it in their own way, and that’s part of what we do in ‘Close Up’, finding what it was each person wanted to achieve and what their willingness to sacrifice for that was.

Everybody has a creative potential and from the moment you can express this creative potential, you can start changing the world.
I think the most fun part about working on ‘Good Luck Charlie‘ is spending time with everyone, honestly, because everybody on set is like my brother and sister and mom and dad. They’re so fun to be around, so that’s probably the best part about working there.
A woman has so many facets, and when you create an image, you have to play with all the different moments of your femininity, not just one thing, because everybody can get bored.
We love trans women; all of us know that drag wouldn’t be an art form without trans women. I know that, RuPaul knows that, everybody in the gay community knows that. Trans women have always been a part of and the face of drag. And I can guarantee trans women will always be a part of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’

Everybody wants to be me. What can I say?

One baby is a patient baby, and waits indefinitely until its mother is ready to feed it. The other baby is an impatient baby and cries lustily, screams and kicks and makes everybody unpleasant until it is fed. Well, we know perfectly well which baby is attended to first. That is the whole history of politics.

Even though everybody’s lives are different, in general we’re all human beings, and we go through the same things: disappointments, the pleasures of life, life and death. That’s always been a really big part of the show to me, making sure the audience feels connected, and that carries through to the album.
When I stepped into the box, I felt the at-bat belonged to me. Everybody else was there for my convenience. The pitcher was there to throw me a ball to hit. The catcher was there to throw it back to him if he didn’t give me what I wanted the first time. And the umpire was lucky that he was close enough to watch.
‘The Daily Show‘ was like my family. We had dogs in the office every day, all day. It was just such a warm, beautiful, sweet experience for me. Choosing to leave the show was so hard because I really, really loved everybody there, and I loved what it gave me and the platform it gave me.

A fashionable milieu is one in which everybody’s opinion is made up of the opinion of all the others. Has everybody a different opinion? Then it is a literary milieu.

You can’t please everybody. You’d be crazy if you’re trying to. So take some time out to do some things for yourself.
I was kind of a misfit, actually. When you’re young, you want to be like everybody else, and I was like nobody else. I couldn’t sit still. I was impulsive. I still am. What is now called a ‘talent’ did not serve me well as a child. I didn’t have friends. I was really an outcast.

I wrote a song on the record called ‘Flawed Design’ and it’s basically looking at that, and it was just exploring how everybody obviously has flaws. As long as you’re true to you, you believe it and you make others believe it, then what you’re doing is just art. If you give everybody a blank canvas and some paint, not everybody’s picture is going to be exactly the same, but it’s still art. I just do what I do.
I feel fine, I don’t care who the director is. All you have to do is know what your doing – all of us – everybody in the business – that’s all you ask anyone – you know your job, I know mine, let’s go do it.
I think that’s the most beautiful thing about being confident – just loving yourself, not caring what everybody else thinks. Because you could be Mother Theresa, and people are still going to try to find some imperfection.

It’s so important just to be true to yourself and to own your own character and take responsibility for it, and speak up and say, This isn’t right; this isn’t me.’ It’s a great lesson, not just in wrestling but in life. Everything about me is a contradiction, and so is everything about everybody else. We are made out of oppositions; we live between two poles. There’s a philistine and an aesthete in all of us, and a murderer and a saint. You don’t reconcile the poles. You just recognize them.

I am a marked person, and no one who’s unmarked is going to understand that. It’s very intimidating. I don’t even know what my place is anymore. What’s my role in society? Who am I, after everybody has branded me?
I find the 1940s very compelling. It is a very excitable period in the U.S. when, whether out of necessity or not, everybody was reinventing themselves.
Everybody grows but me.
The great thing about social movements is everybody gets to be a part of them.
Now, everybody always says there’s no ‘I’ in team, but there is an ‘I’ in win, because the individuals make the team what it is, and how they think and what they do is important to the team. The more people we can attract to science and technology – men, women, everybody – the more economic opportunity we have as a nation.
I think everybody’s got different methods of working which suit the particular individual. Mine is to sort of play the part, and give 100%, to concentrate and focus on it while I’m actually working, but then leave it behind until the next day.
To be in a situation where you have no rights whatsoever is something I wish everybody could experience. People’s attitudes would change. It would be a better place.

I have discovered that for me – now, maybe it doesn’t work for everybody – for me, it is much more effective to arrive at any situation as a man from Mars than to try to fit in.
Evil has no limits. If you are a good person, everybody expects you to be good. If you are very good then you become Albert Schweitzer or Mother Theresa. Then you’re very good because you are helping people. But evil has no limits.
