I was on the outside of the industry. So I started a podcast early in the podcast boom and that caught on a little. I made an album that went to No. 1 on the iTunescharts. I made my own special. I started my own storytelling show.
If there is even one woman out there who went and got checked and found that she had cancer or she was positive and she caught something in time, and if in any small way I was a part of that, it makes me very emotional.
With us, people caught on to something on our third album, and that will never be repeated. Basically, I don’t really have any complaints about the way that Beach House has grown. I feel like we’re still in control of what we’re doing, and it’s a great time in our existence.
The advantage of age is that you swapyouth for wisdom. You’re so full of insecurities when you’re young. ‘Who am I? What do I have to do for people to like me?’ You get caught up in things. You get very emotional about things.
I’d go fishing and always pretend I would catch the biggest fish. I’d stay out there for hours after everybody else left until I caught something. When I shot baskets, I was always the coach and starplayer and always made the winning shot.
White, older showrunners told me, ‘Why do you want to hire an all-Latinx writers room? Hire who’s best for the show – don’t get caught up in that.’ And I was like, ‘No.’ For such an intimate show about the details of a culture? You can’t fake that. The room needs to reflect the makeup of the show.
So to make those checks better, I used to steal lollipops and sell them at school – but I got caught.
But there’s so much kludge, so much terrible stuff, we are at the 1908 Hurley washing machinestage with the Internet. That’s where we are. We don’t get our hair caught in it, but that’s the level of primitiveness of where we are. We’re in 1908.
Don’t get involved in the interoffice politics. On ‘Suits,’ it can be cheeky and fun to see Rachel and Donna being gossipy, but people get caught up in that. I think in life and in the office, it’s best to stay out of the drama.
People in the news media after I got caught said how could you have not caught this guy? He had 50 corrections in four years. That’s a lot of corrections. Well what they failed to look at is how many stories there were and out of 700 plus stories, 50 corrections is not a high amount.
You see the images that the public is demanding. Why more reality-based TV? You’d think that after the first Survivor it would have gone away, but it hasn’t. The public demands it because they get all caught up in the personal stories, and want to see more and more.
I went down for a week with the Houston Marshals. I didn’t know that they hatedpaperwork as much as I hated it. They loathe it, man. They want to be in their cars catching the bad guys. They don’t want to be filling out paperwork about the bad guys, you know, and the ones they’ve caught.
I think PR people are caught in this mindset of ‘control of the message.’ There’s a lot more freedom if you give up control. If you allow people to say things that are genuine and admitmistakes and get on.
Love is just a word that we’ve chosen to use to describe something that we can’t fully explain. I mean, it’s like, as a culture, we’ve just all agreed on using the term, but I think people get so caught up in the word that they don’t allow themselves the privilege to live out what it actually might be.
But yeah, so many people are just not very genuine online. I caught myself looking for my ex, and a lot of these people that I would swipe right on, I’m meeting them in real life and they’re just not that guy at all.
Well, he can’t be dumb, I mean, because he’s been president for four years and he’s president again, so you’re going to get caught out if you’re really bad, aren’t you? Unless millions and millions of Americans are dumb.
There are plenty of actors who’ve caught the singing bug and vice versa, but with musical performers, you’re constantly a persona – which is something I love about acting: you play a character, you leave and you get to be yourself again.
I was an immigrant. I came here at 12. We were caught behind the Iron Curtain until I was 10.
Aldo needed to feel McGregor out. Coming right at him ran into McGregor’s game. I thought he’d start by taking him down and confuse him a little. Maybe he had all that stuff planned, but one combo, and Aldo got caught. That happens, especially with a guy as talented and precise and full of power as Conor.
When we are caught up in the nature of our work and are asked to take on another job or position, rarely do we step back and askourselves, ‘What do I really want to do? What is it at this point in my career and life that is important to me?’
My parents came from Calcutta. They arrived in Cambridge, much like the parents in my novel. And I found myself sort of caught between the world of my parents and the world they had left behind and still clung to, and also the world that surrounded me at school and everywhere else, as soon as I set foot out the door.
When I’ve ridden in parades, I always throw to the kids, the elderly and anyone who is smiling and having a great time. I try to make eye contact with the person. If you catch a ton and a kid nearby hasn’t caught much, share.
A lot of times what happens is, not even just with child actors, but people in general, is they get so caught up in the now. The hot song, the hot TV show, the hot movie. You’re not saying ‘OK, this is cool, but where am I trying to be 20 years from now?’ That’s always been in the forefront of my mind.
Growing up, I saw my mother cry exactly once. The morning of her brother’s funeral. One long tear ran down her cheek through her make up until she caught it near her mouth and patted it dry with a tissue she pulled from inside her sleeve.
In the middle of ‘Bleed Red’ coming out, a huge disproportionatemajority of people in radio came to us and asked if they could have ‘Cost of Livin’ as a single. There was even talk behind closed doors about pulling ‘Bleed Red’ because they had caught wind and heard ‘Cost of Livin’.’ We went with that.
If the run game’s not working, you’ll most likely succeed in the pass game, and even if there’s a game where the run game and the pass game’s not working, you’ve got to find a way to continue to win. You can’t get too caught up in one play. You can’t get too caught up one quarter or one drive.
It’s one of the amazing things about owning a football club, the way you get caught up. It’s like someone has put something in your coffee. You look around, you want to lift the place, hit the ground running.
When you realize who you live for, and who’s important to please, a lot of people will actually start living. I am never going to get caught up in that. I’m gonna look back on my life and say that I enjoyed it – and I lived it for me.
I’ve met and sketched most of the great athletes from the past five decades and their movement, grace and energy have kept me captivated over the years. That’s what the ancientGreeks first saw and that’s what caught my interest.
But ‘Cuban Linx’ was a project that really needed to come, and I really wanted to get it off my chest because I know that the fans were really skeptical about it, like ‘is this really gonna be what it’s supposed to be?’ So once everybody caught it for what it was and everybody was happy, that’s mission accomplished for me.
‘Greg the Bunny,’ the comedytelevision show that I co-created, happened almost by accident. Dan Milano, Spencer Chinoy and myself made a public access show that caught the eye of IFC, and it has had three incarnations since then with a season on Fox.
The rules – I think that’s one big thing that people seem to get caught up in is that I have to know all the rules… But, one thing you have to consider as a new Dungeon Master is you do not have to know the rules like the back of your hand.
I think we need to take time out in our lives to realign ourselves with country, to realign ourselves with what we have and the beauty of what we have. I think we’ve all just got caught up in this way of life that doesn’t allow us to be intimate with it any more.
I try to be regimented and try to stay healthy and work out and eat properly and go to sleep. And not get too caught up in the industry in my regular life, so I can save all my expression and energy for my art.
I wanted to learn how to blog, so I was playing around with WordPress and Typepad and Blogger, starting all these different blogs just to learn how these things work. I had a fake Sergey Brin blog, an anonymous, fake Ph.D kind of blog. I did it for, like, I don’t know, six weeks, and the Steve Jobs one just caught on.
I grew up in the Southwest of the U.K., on the coast in Cornwall. I used to keep a marine fish tank outside the house, where we would go down to the tide pools and catch fish and crabs. I think I caught a cuttlefish once.
When you write a business fable, people get caught up in the story and don’t get judgmental about what you’re teaching them. If you’re teaching a bunch of concepts, people get skeptical and say, ‘Where’d you get that research?’ But if you tell them a story, they get caught up in it while they learn.
I think the biggest thing is just focusing on the day-to-day, your routine, not getting caught up in the future or the past and just being right there and focusing on what you have to do that day or that night to help your team win.
I got caught up in 35 years of Saturdaynights. Every night was like party night to me. As a young man, you can do that; it’s OK to be an idiot. But I woke up one day, and I realized that 35 years had gone by.
When I was in the U.S., I was caught by the cops for speeding and charged a fine of 200 dollars. I didn’t have so much money then – I was still a student – but I certainly didn’t want to spend a night behind bars. I called a few of my friends frantically and they bailed me out of the situation.
And my mother caught wind of this. She never had really tried to guide my career or really had any say in my life as an adult, but this was the one time she said she would never speak to me again if I quit acting.
Touring is a rough thing. You don’t have any time to look around or stop and think if what you’re doing is making you happy. The more you tour, the better the band gets, and you get caught up in a lot more things than just traveling.
I’ve been training jiu-jitsu for a while. It just didn’t really click in my brain. Maybe sometimes I get a bit lazy. By the time I realize I’m in trouble, I’m already caught. You can’t really think about it. You’ve got to just react as it happens.
I already hated that gray suit and then having to go through putting on that wig with a false front – again made me feel so trapped inside this person who was desperatelywanting to break out of it but she was so caught up in the web of deception that she couldn’t.
‘Downton Abbey‘ has become this huge thing, and I really enjoy the success of it, but I sometimes find myself on the outside looking in, which is sort of a healthy way to look at it so you don’t get too caught up in it.
Your brain sends out vibrations all the time, and your thoughts affect your life and other people’s. They pick up these thoughts and get changed by them. That’s why, say, a pacifist gets caught up in a riot situation. It’s a field of vibrations – you can ‘feel’ someone else’s thoughts when close to them.
I once threw a water balloon on a girl because I caught her cheating on me. She was kissing my friend and I thought, ‘Oh, this can’t be happening.’ It was bad and I was much older than you think throwing a water balloon. I was 14.
People suffer because they are caught in their views. As soon as we release those views, we are free and we don’t suffer anymore.
The world went by, and we didn’t get caught up in all the other things, because we didn’t have time. We had no spare time. It was always thinking about training and focusing on what we wanted, our goals.
When you are caught with a big shot, you don’t really feel it. It’s like being in a car crash, and maybe your arm has been ripped off… it is only when you look down at it that you realise it has happened.
I used to dream of some kind of way that you could carry a phone with you – but I never thought I would see it in my lifetime. It doesn’t matter nowadays if you are caught in traffic or got lost on the way somewhere. You can just send a text and the recipient will know that you haven’t fallen under a bus.
Women who wear kimonos, when the fight, they have to keep their knees together, and when they use a sword, they have to move the sleeves otherwise it gets caught.
It always comes down to being accountable to your teammates and so many times you get caught up in everything else going on. And I remember as a young guy, you always worry about, ‘Well, who’s getting the reps,’ and this, that and the other, and it takes you and distracts you away from just doing your job.
Al Qaeda is not the organization now that it was before. It is under stress organizationally. Its leadership spends more time trying to figure out how to keep from getting caught than they do trying to launchoperations.
Because of our excessivetouring and not giving up, it wasn’t until ‘Toys‘ came out that ‘Dream On’ really caught on. And then, of course, ‘Walk This Way’ crept up after that. Things went our way after that.
The truth of the matter is, I am a black woman, and I am an actor. I don’t try to get caught up in being a black actor; I’m just an actor who is a black woman. It’s not about forgetting that you’re black, but you don’t need to be hammered over the head, either; it just is what it is.
I wrote my first real murder story as a journalist for the Daytona Beach News Journal in 1980. It was about a body found in the woods. Later, the murder was linked to a serial killer who was later caught and executed for his crimes.
It’s hard in America as a writer of color, an actor of color, not to get caught up in race and culture. But you’re also supposed to be able to write characters and scenes in a way where it’s just a matter of fact, a component.
Every role you play is literally – and I’ve said this before – every single role that you play, the only way you can connect to that character is because that was a piece of you that was scattered around that yard, almost like we got caught up in some whirlwind.
Foolish people follow the system, get caught up in media news, what the government wants you to believe and all the higherpowers want you to believe, and go down the same path as all the sheep in the cattle market.
I think women get caught up too much in having a plan – ‘I’m going to get married at this age; I’m going to have a kid at this age’ – and then they just try to find a guy who will fit into that picture. I don’t want my life to be based on that.
We keep on saying ‘Jack’ and ‘he,’ but that’s one of the great things about the Ripper: its a mystery, which is part of the fascination and the fear. If you can see evil and face it, it often doesn’t look so evil, but the Ripper never got caught.
Sometimes if you have a coach or team-mates for too long, you get caught in certain routines. I think it’s good to shake up things a little bit.
The thing that’s caught me off guard is going to dinner and people asking me for autographs or to take a picture. People coming to my house asking for autographs – that’s something I really haven’t grasped the whole entirety of yet.
Much extremist activityfalls short of directly inciting people to violence or other crimes and so is not caught by laws on incitement. Neither does the Public Order Act, used to protect groups of people from harassment, deal with the problem.
I think there’s something really painful about your identity being entirelycomposed of ghosts. For me, I didn’t want to be this kid whose Dominicanness was something caught utterlyin the past, is an abstraction, the thing that I write about. Instead I wanted it to be, first and foremost, a thing that I lived.
We had to go to bed by 8 P.M. My siblings and I would often play cards under the bed-sheets. But we would get caught and then were made to practise harder. My father would say, ‘You need to work even more if you aren’t tired enough to go to sleep.’
I don’t know how to put it, but yet you know we have so many people who the way they look at life, the way they work depends on what happens, us winning or losing. It’s kind of crazy. So, I kind of got caught up in that, I’m gonna try to stay away from that.
I was going to go make a film in Greece. if they caught you with this much marijuana, they threw you in jail, no questions asked, and I was trying to stuff it in my deodorantbottles. I thought, what I am doing?
I can’t quite remember the exact moment when I became obsessed with writing a play about the seemingly endless war in the Democratic Republic of Congo, but I knew that I wanted to somehow tell the stories of the Congolese women caught in the cross-fire.
College athletics are so entrenched and enjoyed by so many people that they will never be discontinued or substantially changed. I know that. I just pity the people caught in that tender trap. And most of all, I pity those kids.
If you read a book that’s fiction and you get caught in the characters and the plot, and swept away, really, by the fiction of it – by the non-reality – you sometimes wind up changing your reality as well. Often, when the last page is turned, it will haunt you.
Disability informs almost every part of my life. It’s as important, if not more so, than my gender and sexuality. It’s certainly a great deal more important to me than my religion or whether or not I caught a tram, ferry or bus to work.
I did a play back in 2005 called ‘The Pillowman,’ which Martin McDonagh directed, in which, at the very end of the run, I caught a case of shingles. I had something burst on my forehead, so I actually have a mark on my forehead from that experience. But it’s also an internal mark as well.
I’m a fan first and foremost. I get caught up in the drama, the emotion of what is happening, whether it’s a boxing match, an MMA fight, a kickboxing contest, or a WWE matchup. I want to tell the story and paint more pictures.
You know, fame is a funny thing, man, especially, you know, actors, musicians, rappers, rocksingers, it’s kind of a lifestyle and it’s easy to get caught up in it – you go to bars, you go to clubs, everyone’s doing a certain thing… It’s tough.
‘Life, Love & Hope’ is… I’m thinking ‘larger picture.’ I’m not trying to preach to anyone. We all get lost and caught up in our everyday problems. Your cellphone doesn’t work or you got a parkingticket, you had a bad day at work. You can lose sight of the really important things in life; that’s what the song is about.
One must know the so-called ‘lesson of a downpour.’ A man, caught in a sudden rain en route, dashes along the road not to get wet or drenched. Once one takes it for granted that in rain he naturally gets wet, he can be in a tranquilframe of mind even when soaked to the skin. This lesson applies to everything.
Theology is endlessly interesting in that you can study it without believing in anything. I do believe, but you don’t have to. I got very caught up in the 11th-century monasticism and the Cistercians. My dissertation was about Aelred of Rievaulx and one of his books.
I was born into an artistic family, and they understood me. But they were really worried, because some of the stuff I did was dangerous. If I’d been caught without the veil with a shaved head, I don’t know what would have happened.
I’m trying to not get too caught up in what I can’t control.
To remember non-attachment is to remember what freedom is all about. If we get attached, even to a beautiful state of being, we are caught, and ultimately we will suffer. We work to observe anything that comes our way, experience it while it is here, and be able to let go of it.
I’ve caught myself watching MSNBC more and more, simply amazed at the nightly hate-fest against millions of Americans who don’t see the world through the grannyglasses of Keith Olbermann or any of the other radicalliberals who host shows there.
Everybody hangs out with everybody, which is very strange for a cast this large and this young. We’re all cool and down to earth and not caught up in this maniacal business at all… . Everybody really, really likes everybody else.
Many times, I left the prison thinking, ‘I’m smart. I can make it. I won’t get caught up again.’ But you get off downtown Skid Row, and you’re a target for all of the environmental harms in that area. The pain and trauma in that area is so thick, you can almost reach your hand out and touch it.
I get tips from Bob Gaudio. And one of my songs somehow caught the attention of one of my idols, Marty Panzer, who wrote big hits for Barry Manilow. So two guys who inspired me to write lyrics are now teaching me to write.
When I was younger, I thought I had to shut myself off, work really hard to cry. I learned after a while that that’s just not… You know, often in life, you cry when you’re caught off-guard. That’s where I need to be when I’m acting, too.
I believe my own demons would have caught up with me regardless of my race and regardless of whether I worked at ‘The Times.’
If any of us caught a fever during pregnancy, we would seekadvice and support from a doctor. Getting help with our mental health is no different – our children need us to look after ourselves and get the support we need.
One of the things that the Grateful Dead did, way back when, was we spent a lot of time just turning each other on to music. If somebody was listening to something that really caught their ear, they’d make sure that everybody else in the band heard it, and that came home for us in innumerable ways.
We gazed dreamily at the Milky Way and once in a while caught some shooting stars. Times like those gave me the opportunity to wonder and ask all those very basic questions. That sense of awe for the heavens started there.
Going from ‘Shark Night’ to ‘Piranha,’ a guy holding a fish on a stick in front of you that they’re going to replace in post-production, it’s a lot different than seeing this animatronic shark that, if you get caught up in the moment, looks, acts and you sometimes think could be real.
Too much negotiating and not enough work on the court – that’s what happened to me during the lockout. Too much talking and not enough training. I couldn’t put in my usual offseason work routine. I think that all caught up to me, with my Achilles problems.
As a reader and as a viewer, usually when I watch a movie, I’m caught up enough in the movie that I’m not breaking it down to the details anyway.
When I was a kid, it was just a wild dream to think that I would’ve had a career like this, and I really didn’t think that was possible. But things just kind of started to roll, and I was caught up in it, and I went with it.
I think it’s really easy to just get caught up in what everyone else is doing, so I think the most important thing to remember is to be really strong in your own shoes. That is the main thing for me. The one thing that kind of gets in my way sometimes is when I’m a little too aware of everybody else.
But don’t get caught out there looking goofy. It’s weird. When you do something that stinks, it’s going to last forever on the Internet. There’s always someone in the audience with a camera phone and if you’re not 100%, you’re going to be watching yourself on YouTube.
This innerstrength we have, this desire to evolve and expand and explore, I do love that about humanity. At the same time, it’s scary what it does on a global scale. I’m very much caught between the two.
I always did what I thought was interesting. I always just did what caught my fantasy. Looking like a woman, that was never the criteria for me. It was always to do drag. And drag is not gender-specific. Drag is just drag. It’s exaggeration.
I tore my abdomen. That ended my football career, which was what I wanted to do my entire life, and when that was over, I pretty much looked to just about anything, but nothing really caught my interest.
When you’re acting, it’s all about you and the person in front of you, and I think in life we forget to apply the same technique, and we get caught up in the panic of what we’re trying to do – how overwhelmingly daunting the task of trying to become an actor is.
Pierre Curie came to see me and showed a simple and sinceresympathy with my student life. Soon he caught the habit of speaking to me of his dream of an existence consecrated entirely to scientific research, and he asked me to share that life.
Writing a song to be a single is hard, and I don’t like to focus on that because you can get caught up in making something just terrible, which is really easy to do if you’re focused on making it a single. It’s more fun when you focus on what excites you musically.
My respect for TSA agents went up a notch. We look at ’em like, ‘You can’t bother me, I’m gettin’ on my flight. Stop wastin’ my time.’ They’re doing it to protect us. Their job is to do everything they’re doing. We sometimes don’t respect other people’s jobs because we’re caught up in our world.
The fact is I like Mumbai less and less. My son says, ‘Baba, let’s go for a drive’, and I tell him, ‘Where’s the fun of a drive in this place?’ You get caught in a million traffic jams, and you spend time cooped in your car with all that mad cacophony around you.
If you go off the Senior Bowl, that’s basically what I can do. I played H-back, I played fullback, I played tight end, I played slotreceiver, I ran routes, I caught some balls, blocked, just doing that stuff.
When we did ‘Eliminator,’ at the time, it was experimental for us. It obviously turned out real successful, but at the time, we caught crap about it from some of our old fans. They thought we were deserting our roots or our old style or whatever.
Working with Tracy Morgan on ’30 Rock’ is really great. I love Tracy. He’s wonderful. Well, until his fish tank caught fire – his apartmentburned up and flooded my apartment. We live in the same building, but I’m eight floors below him and we had to evacuate.
As a mother I think you often get so caught up in trying to take care of everyone else that you forget to take care of yourself. But I’m a much better wife and mother when I take the time to take care of myself.
The only way I can lose is if I’m caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy.
It doesn’t really matter to me what the rest of country is doing. I’m not caught up in trying to make a record that sounds like everybody else. That, to me, is a record label‘s absolute biggest downfall.
If you aim at anything lower that is expecting your audience to be really alert and aware, then you’re going to be caught out sooner or later as a composer.
Peter Maxwell Davies
I never identified with anybody. I have always been very sensitive about my color, because everybody called me ‘yellow gal.’ I was caught in between both sides – nobody wanted me. I love that my audience is there, but I always feel as though I have to fend for myself.
Each time I caught sight of geese swooping in formation across the sky, I wondered how our life below might look from their perspective, and imagined that, were they ever to indulge in such speculation, the high-rises might seem to them like firs massed in a grove.
I’ve been lucky to have opportunities with David Lynch in ‘Lost Highway‘ and Jennifer Lynch in this movie ‘Surveillance,’ so I’ve always boomeranged around a little bit, and no one has caught my foot in the trap yet, but I think if I move fast enough… ‘cos I think I got trapped a couple of times.
An athlete gets paid a lot of money. And someone who is after that, a thief, a mugger or someone who steals from people, they are taking a chance with the law that if they get caught, they are going to jail or face some other problem. In my case, you are going to get shot.
There may be a better one somewhere, but I haven’t caught her at it.
When things could’ve gone really bad, rugby caught my interest and I really stuck with it. The sport brought me, maybe off the streets where we’d be fighting, into putting in a good effort in the rugby field where you’re kind of rewarded for that rough behaviour instead of in trouble with the law.
I don’t think the state of California realized there would be this many people here caught up in the freeway system.
Sometimes you actually get caught in the web of things where people are talking about… what kind of breakfastcereal you like.
I suppose people lost interest in me when I left Liverpool; but it wasn’t me who left, it was other people who left me. If people had continued to follow me, they would have seen my two good seasons in Turkey which caught the attention of Besiktas and Galatasaray.
I definitely caught a lot of backlash in my situation, not just from students but also from faculty, which was unfortunate, given that I was spending a lot of my time outside school working on a career, which a lot of people didn’t really agree with.
It’s very frightening when you’re told you have any form of the c-word, but because of early detection, they caught it before it had hardly begun. I’m completely cured and will go on to have a wonderful, fruitful life. I’ll never die of prostate cancer.
Thanks to my reading, I have never been caught flat-footed by any situation, never at a loss for how any problem has been addressed… It doesn’t give me all the answers, but it lights what is often a dark path ahead.
Everybody needs to show respect to each others’ ways and the cultural life that you get on this planet. Don’t get caught up on ‘I’m brown, black, white, red, blue, whatever.’ You gotta ask, what were you called before 1492? All these names we’re using now are just an illusion made to keep us fighting each other.
What I really love about the Bay area sound is that it’s very unique and that’s something I want to strive for, as an artist. It’s easy to get caught up in what’s trending, but Bay area rap stays true to the local sound.
I would be going until I went over the bounds of reality and was then caught up in a profound wish to be dead without having to go through the shaming defeat of suicide.
Don’t get me wrong; it’s not like I didn’t go out and have fun. But there’s been a lot of players that come to New York and get caught up in the lifestyle, and before you know it, they’re sent away to another team because it affected their performance.
I never wanted to be in the late-nighttalk showwars, and I think somehow with ‘Totally Biased,’ I got caught up in all that. Suddenly, there are articles about how we finally have a black voice in late-night.
Women are wonderful, but they get so caught up about their body. We need to unhook from worrying so much. When I don’t feel good, I look in the mirror and think I look fat and miserable. But when I feel good and whole, I’m not worried about my body because I’m living in it. It doesn’t become an object.
I think social media is an interesting beast – you can’t get too caught up in it. People can get caught up in it sometimes, but I think it’s important to live in the present and not on the computerscreen.
I didn’t really think too much about being any kind of pioneer. The truth is, I actually kind of caught onto a couple of really great coattails in my career. The things were already moving when I got involved in both cases, really – Poco and the Eagles.
In the four years since its launch, Kepler has chalked up 122 new and confirmedplanets. It’s also caught the scent of nearly three thousand additionalobjects, of which probably 80 percent or more will turn out to be other-worldly orbs.
I’ve been caught in parachute pants. And on my high school yearbook, they used the wrong picture. They were supposed to use the picture of me with a nice suit on. They used me with my collar flipped up, in a fuchsia and white stripedshirt. I blame Prince and Michael Jackson in the Eighties for that.
It’s just being me, man… If you get caught up in people saying you’re good and people saying this or that, good or bad, it can kind of wear on you. Or it’ll make you feel like you’re better than what you are.
Hopefully, one day I won’t have to be so caught up in all of that day-to-day, the Twitter and the Instagram. But I also would like to, at some point, turn off and take a break and also be, like, an artist.
Like many authors, I caught the writing bug during my teenage years. I don’t remember the exact day or year, but I remember that reading S.E. Hinton’s ‘The Outsiders‘ sparked my interest in writing.
I’ve always looked upon research as an opportunity to satisfy my curiosity. But the other side of the coin is one must not be so caught up in it that one never gets the book written.
I think that my music is really empowering. I just want people to know – especially young people, but really everyone – that you don’t have to be so caught up in what everyone else is thinking. You don’t have to be the coolest, most popular person. You can just be you and be vulnerable.
Until the year 1967, it was a crime, for which you could be put in prison, to make homosexual love to someone in your own house. If they came in and caught you at it, you could be put into prison. This has changed – I’m talking about England, incidentally.
Artists are the people that no matter what, pick up the pen, pick up a paintbrush. They take the time to translate what is happening to create something that resonatesdeeply with the rest of the people that are caught in the middle of their own reality.
Passion is the evil in adultery. If a man has no opportunity of living with another man‘s wife, but if it is obvious for some reason that he would like to do so, and would do so if he could, he is no less guilty than if he was caught in the act.
There were many influences on me while growing up. In the late Seventies and early Eighties when I was growing up in Hyderabad, it was a bit more laid-back, and that gave you time to think about things differently without perhaps being caught up in the narrow approach to one’s journey through life.
I rarely get recognized, and whenever I do, it has to do with ‘The Leftovers‘ because it came into someone’s life at a particularly important time for them – if they were dealing with grief or loss or whatever tragedy – and they just caught it. And there is no rhyme or reason to the kind of person it is.
There is something universal in the theme of a man trying to save his family in the midst of the most terrible circumstances. It is not limited to Sierra Leone. This story could apply to any number of places where ordinary people have been caught up in political events beyond their control.
That was the big lesson for all of us. Everything was going great on paper, but we all became miserable because we were so caught up in the machinery of how you make that happen, it took away the sheer joy.
Nothing is as easy to make as a promise this winter to do something next summer; this is how commencement speakers are caught.
I did have one bad accident up north near Deerhurst. I was driving back in the winter on these snowy roads, and these two snowmobilers were racing up a hill and they weren’t looking, so they caught me as I was going up the other side of the hill, and they smashed into me.
I got a nomination for director, which means the world to me; it’s just the most exciting thing for me and my family. You do the good hard work, and the rest of it is something you shouldn’t get too caught up in, but when it happens – boy! I respect it.
It’s easy for especially NBA players to get caught up in the stress of the job, to get caught up in negativity and in what other people think, and it’s hard, but the best way to live is to keep things simple and enjoy every day.
When you’re caught up in your career, you’re not thinking about becoming a legend one day or how, 25 years from now, you’ll be immortalized in something or that you might be going into the Hall of Fame.
You pray for days when the crappie fishing is so relentlessly good that you’re giggling like a kid and the only things you’re lacking in life are another stringer and an extra hour on the water. But what do you do with that pile of freshly caught crappies spilling out of your cooler? Call your pals for a mega-fry.
The borderlanders are people who are kind of caught in the middle. They think there must be another world out there. There probably is a God, but they are either turned off by the church or wounded by the church or wary of the church for whatever reason.
Boxing? She’s like a woman. If you’ve never wooed her, never won her, you always look back wondering what would have happened had you had her. If you caught her and had a long relationship, you don’t really look back. Do I miss her? No, because I’ve had her, I’ve moved on.
If you subscribe to any online service, whether it be AOL, Google, Yahoo, or the Huffington Post, have you noticed that you are forced to watch a seemingly endless ad before the video story appears about a news item that caught your eye? AOL and the Huffington Post are especially annoying.
The most direct evidence of the wonderful plasticity and elasticity of red corpuscles is obtained when they are watched in a current, where they can be caught against a projectingedge and bent by the pressure of the current flowing past them.
Squid don’t eat jellyfish, but they eat the things that eat the jellyfish. Jellyfishes put on a lightshow to attract a larger predator. It’s caught in the clutches of something like a fish and has no hope for escape unless its lightshow attracts something bigger that will attack their attacker.
Before I had a son, I used to look at my father’s example: he left me, he left my mother. When I had a son, I got caught in the same situation that his mother don’t want me to see him. I started looking at my father in a different light.
Looking back, I can see that the women I loved, at least early on, were statussymbols. I suppose, in that sense, I was my mother’s true disciple. She’d taught me that a good man, though elusive, could transform one’s whole life once he was caught.
I recently did the David Letterman Show about my book. He was very serious and made no jokes and it caught me off guard a little bit. He was much more serious than some of the joke shows that journalists get on.
My first car was an ’84 Ford Taurus. It caught on fire from me trying to change the fuel pump, so that wasn’t good at all. Dried leaves on the ground while I was trying to change the fuel pump. Don’t do that. Do it on concrete.
Too many leaders are so caught up in the momentum of work that they lose sight of the opportunity to connect with people. I discovered that the more fully present I was with other people, the more fully present they were with me, and the more productive our relationship became over time.
Science was something that really caught my attention. It was something I really could sink my teeth into.
Michael P. Anderson
My books are about ordinary people caught up in extraordinary situations.
Cinema dominated the Fife coalfield towns. We lived in Lochgelly, but my mum was caught up in Hollywood. She was in love with the style and glamour. Sometimes she would come with me to the cinema in the afternoons, and she would say things like, ‘I wouldn’t mind a peck with Gregory.’
FYI, there are basically only three things besides a vest that will stop a bullet: a tree trunk, the engine block of a car, and a U.S. mailbox: if you are ever caught in gunfire, find one of those.
I don’t want to paint myself as some villain – I was never a bad guy doing horrible things, but I got too caught up in wanting a very specific thing to happen to the band. Ultimately, I had to find the ability in myself to get over that and stop being so stringent and learn to laugh a little bit more.
The capture, taming, training and keeping of eagles is highly ritualized. Most of the birds, which have a life span of about 40 years, are caught when very young – either snatched from a nest or trapped in a baited net.
Starting in my late 20s, I would go on one fishing trip a year to an exoticlocation. I went to India and caught what was essentially a giant carp. I went to Thailand and got myself arrested as a suspected spy. I went to the Congo and got malaria. But even the bad stuff is material.
I was once making a burger for myself at my boyfriend‘s house and a lyric started pouring out and I had to catch it, so I ran to another room to write it down, but then the kitchen caught fire. His cabinets were charred, and he was furious. But it was worth it for a song.
What is the difference between me and a criminal? My crimes were not caught. Those of us whose crimes were not caught are on this side of the fence while criminals have been condemned on the other side.
Everyone’s gone through a breakup, and I’ve dated girls in the past where… I’ve never had a messy breakup, thankfully, but I’m never the one to end it. I’m always caught off guard as to why things ended because I guess I’m oblivious in a way.
I found a book facing out that I’d always meant to read: William Shirer’s ‘The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich.’ About a third of the way through, I suddenly, finally caught up to the fact that Shirer had been there in Berlin, from 1934 on, and was finally kicked out when the U.S. entered the war.
It’s a weird thing about the truth: It protects you. What really makes you vulnerable is when you’re lying because you’re going to get caught. When you tell the truth, there’s a strange relief that comes.
We’re all caught up in circumstances, and we’re all good and evil. When you’re really hungry, for instance, you’ll do anything to survive. I think the most evil thing – well, maybe that’s too strong – but certainly a very evil thing is judgment, the sin of ignorance.
In Peru, if you gave somebody a little chance to do something, they took it to the furthest extent. They took nothing for granted. And here in L.A., you kind of get caught up in your own little dilemmas and your own little life.
The elaboratesets and the theme of HalloweenHavoc as a whole is what I think really caught the attention of the fans. Add in the explosivecontests we had every year at the event, and it was definitely the perfect precursor to Starrcade.
I was part of the first generation of girls and women to be educated and go to grammar school even if we didn’t have much money. Then that generation went, ‘OK, great’, and went into medicine or the police, and hit this wall of discrimination from older men who hadn’t caught up.
